Good morning Resident,

Across all of my wards Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) has been raised as a concern for many residents particularly in the summer months. Please take a look at the below information to find out further information about different types of ASB and what can be reported.

What is Anti-Social Behaviour?

Antisocial behaviour is defined as 'behaviour by a person which causes, or is likely to cause, harassment, alarm or distress to persons not of the same household as the person' (Antisocial Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014

Main Categories of Anti-Social Behaviour:

There are three main categories for antisocial behaviour, depending on how many people are affected:

Personal antisocial behaviour is when a person targets a specific individual or group.

Nuisance antisocial behaviour is when a person causes trouble, annoyance or suffering to a community.

Environmental antisocial behaviour is when a person’s actions affect the wider environment, such as public spaces or buildings.

Under these main headings antisocial behaviour falls into one of 13 different types:

Abandoned vehicles – Vehicles left by owners (not stolen), including scrap cars or those left after collisions.

Vehicle nuisance – Includes street cruising, convoys, off-road driving, misuse of e-scooters/go-peds, and unlicensed vehicle selling.

Rowdy behaviour – General nuisance in public places (not domestic incidents or crimes).

Nuisance neighbours – Noise, parties, disputes, or ongoing disturbance from neighbours.

Littering / drug paraphernalia – Fly posting, rubbish, or discarded drug-related items in public areas.

Animal issues – Barking, fouling, strays, uncontrolled animals, or intimidation involving animals.

Trespassing – Entering land or property without permission, including unauthorised camps.

Nuisance calls – Persistent unwanted or silent calls causing distress (non-threatening).

Street drinking – Antisocial behaviour linked to drinking in public or spontaneous street parties.

Sex work-related activity – Loitering or activity linked to sex work affecting the community (excluding offences like kerb-crawling).

Other noise nuisance – Non-neighbour-related noise issues.

Begging – Unlicensed begging or requesting donations in public spaces.

Firework misuse – Unsafe use, illegal sale/possession, or excessive noise from fireworks.
