During warmer periods, windows and doors are more likely to be left open, which can create opportunities for burglary. Taking a few simple steps can help prevent this.

Keep your home secure

Make sure all windows and doors are closed and locked when you leave, even if it’s only for a short time

Avoid leaving windows open, especially at ground level or where they can be easily accessed

Keep valuables out of sight

Prevent burglary

Use good quality locks on doors and windows

Leave a light or TV on when you’re out to make your home look occupied

Keep sheds and side gates secure, as tools can be used to break in
