Sceptre - focusing on tackling knife crime. |
Dear all residents,
I hope you are all doing well and enjoying the good weather. Today's message is focusing on #Sceptre an ongoing effort to tackle knife crime. All PCSOs have been very busy this week with conducting visits and raising awareness across Sandwell. On Wednesday, 20th of May PCSOs visited Bearwood Primary School alongside council, and students had the chance to talk to the officers and ask them questions. It was certainly a very interesting day and a very busy one as well. On Thursday, 21st of May PCSOs conducted a welfare check at Dorothy Parkes Centre in Bearwood. It was a fantastic day of Action and Community Spirit. On Friday, 22nd May PCSOs conducted a Drop in surgery at Smethwick Library engaging with the community and providing reassurance. The Police drop in surgery focused on parents/guardians/carers and how they can protect their child or family from knife crime (search “WMP Life or Knife”). On Saturday, 23rd May PCSOs have been carrying out patrols in Bearwood High Street, engaging with local shopkeepers and raising awareness around age restricted sales of bladed items (25+). We will continue to work closely with businesses to keep our neighbourhood safe. Additionally, presentations were conducted across several community centres to raise awareness and inform youths of weapon surrender bins, where they can legally dispose knives. If you’ve got concerns about someone carrying a knife, call West Midlands Police on 101 or report anonymously to Fearless on 0800 555 111
