Hot Weather Warning for Dog Owners. |
||
|
The Nedge Safer Neighbourhood Team would like to remind dog owners of the dangers posed to their four legged friends during the hot weather.
In this heat, pavements and roads can become dangerously hot very quickly, causing painful burns and blistering to dogsโ paws. If they're being taken out and walked, they have no choice. Imagine walking around with shoes or trainers on. Dogs can also suffer heatstroke within minutes โ and it can be fatal.
And please remember:
๐ NEVER leave dogs in hot cars Even with windows open, temperatures inside vehicles rise rapidly and can kill.
If your dog doesnโt absolutely need to travel โ leave them at home where itโs cool and safe.
Dogs do NOT need walking during the hottest parts of the day.
โ Walk early in the morning โ Walk later in the evening โ Stick to shaded grassy areas โ Carry fresh water โ If itโs too hot for you โ itโs too hot for them
Dogs have never died from missing a walk. Dogs HAVE died from heatstroke.
Please think before heading out in this weather. Help us keep our four-legged family members safe during the heatwave. ๐ถ๐ | ||
