Dogs Die in hot cars!

Dear Resident, 

🚗🐾 Leaving Dogs in Hot Cars – Zero Tolerance Approach 🐾🚗

With temperatures rising, we are reminding all dog owners that leaving a dog in a vehicle—even for a short time—can be fatal.

Temperatures inside a car can rise rapidly within minutes, even if windows are open or the vehicle is parked in the shade. Dogs can quickly suffer heatstroke, organ failure, and death.

⚠️ This is not only dangerous – it is a criminal offence.
Leaving a dog in a hot vehicle may amount to an offence under the Animal Welfare Act 2006.

🔴 What will happen if you leave a dog in a hot car?
• Police may be called immediately
• Officers may take action to remove the animal if it is in distress
• You could be investigated and prosecuted
• You may face fines, a criminal record, and disqualification from owning animals

🐶 Help us prevent unnecessary harm
• Never leave your dog unattended in a vehicle during warm weather
• If you cannot take your dog with you, leave them at home in a cool, safe environment

👀 If you see a dog in distress in a vehicle
Please contact police straight away via 999 if there is an immediate risk to life.

We will always prioritise animal welfare and will take positive action where required.
