Dear Resident,

We are making you aware of recent incidents involving break-ins to garages and sheds in the West Bletchley area. These outbuildings are often targeted by offenders as they can contain valuable tools, bicycles, and equipment, and may be less secure than main homes.

To help protect your property and reduce the risk of becoming a victim, we encourage you to consider the following crime prevention measures:

🔐 Secure Your Garage and Shed

Ensure all doors are fitted with good quality, robust locks (e.g. closed shackle padlocks or deadlocks).

Reinforce doors and frames where possible.

Consider installing hinge bolts or security screws to prevent doors being removed.

💡 Improve Visibility & Lighting

Install motion-activated security lighting around garages and sheds.

Keep the area well-lit to deter opportunistic offenders.

🛠️ Store Items Safely

Keep valuable items such as power tools and bicycles out of sight.

Mark your property using forensic marking kits or engraving tools.

Record serial numbers and take photos of valuable items.

🚲 Secure Bikes and Equipment

Use a strong chain and ground anchor inside sheds or garages.

Lock items together where possible.

📹 Consider Additional Security

Install CCTV cameras or video doorbells to monitor your property.

Use alarm systems for sheds and garages where possible.

🚪 Lock Up Every Time

Always lock garages and sheds, even when at home.

Do not leave keys in doors or accessible locations.

👀 Stay Vigilant

Report any suspicious activity to police.
