As we experience warmer weather and heatwaves across Maidstone, Iโd like to remind everyone to take a few simple steps to keep yourselves, your families, and our community safe. ๐ Staying Safe in the HeatKeep hydrated and check in on vulnerable neighbours, elderly residents, and those living alone.Avoid leaving children, pets, or valuables in parked vehicles โ temperatures can rise dangerously within minutes. If youโre out enjoying parks, riversides or open spaces, please do so responsibly and take litter home with you.๐ Crime PreventionWarmer weather often means more people outdoors, but it can also create opportunities for opportunistic crime: Lock doors and windows, especially at night or when youโre in the garden.Secure sheds, garages, and outbuildings โ bikes and tools are common targets.Avoid leaving valuables on display in vehicles or gardens. If youโre heading away, ask a trusted neighbour to keep an eye on your property.๐ซ Antisocial Behaviour (ASB)We want everyone to enjoy the sunshine, but please be mindful of others: Keep noise to a reasonable level, particularly late in the evening.Avoid alcohol-related disorder or gatherings that may disturb neighbours.๐ถโโ๏ธ Enjoying Maidstone ResponsiblyRespect public spaces including parks, town centre areas, and waterways.Use designated areas for BBQs if permitted, and ensure fires are completely extinguished.Dispose of rubbish correctly โ littering and broken glass can cause harm.๐ Reporting ConcernsIn an emergency, always call 999.For non-emergencies or to report ASB, contact Kent Police on 101 or via the Kent Police website. You can also report anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
Letโs work together to keep Maidstone a safe and welcoming place for everyone during the warmer months. Your support makes a real difference. Stay safe and look out for one another.
