π Police Advisory β Leaving Dogs in Vehicles During Hot Weather πΆ |
||
|
Dear residents, We are urging members of the public to never leave dogs unattended in vehicles during periods of warm or hot weather. Even on mild days, the temperature inside a parked vehicle can rise rapidly within minutes, leading to serious distress, heatstroke, and potentially death for any animal left inside. We would like to remind dog owners of the following: Β· Vehicles can become dangerously hot, even if parked in the shade or with windows slightly open. Β· Dogs are unable to regulate their body temperature effectively in these conditions. Β· Leaving a dog in a hot car may result in police intervention and could lead to prosecution under animal welfare legislation. If you see a dog in distress inside a vehicle, please contact police on 999 in an emergency, or 101 for non-urgent concerns. Please help us keep animals safe by planning ahead and ensuring your pets are not left in vehicles during warm weather. Protect your pet β donβt leave them in a hot car. | ||
