Good evening all,
Officers from the West Barnes Safer Neighbourhood Team and Cannon Hill Safer Neighbourhood Team have successfully recovered a motorbike that had been reported stolen in Surbiton, demonstrating the effectiveness of local policing and community vigilance.
The team was alerted to a suspicious vehicle by a local resident, the vehicle was located on Grand Drive during patrols of the ward and, following the necessary checks, was identified as a stolen motorbike. Thanks to the swift action of officers and local residents, it has now been safely returned to its rightful owner — a positive outcome for the victim and a clear example of the benefits of visible policing and an engaged community.
This recovery highlights the team’s ongoing commitment to tackling vehicle crime and supporting residents. Their proactive approach not only disrupts criminal activity but also helps reunite people with their property, reinforcing confidence within the community.
Secondly, apologies to those of you who attended the BikeRegister event at Sir Joseph Hood Playing Fields, we could not attend due to the incident above. We are still able to offer this so please email or contact us and we can arrange a time to complete the marking for you.
Motorbike Security Advice
To help prevent theft, riders are encouraged to take a few simple precautions: Be mindful at home: Many thefts happen from driveways—use secure gates and anchor points even at home.
If you have any information about suspicious activity or vehicle crime, report it to your local police or via the appropriate reporting channels.
Kind regards, West Barnes Safer Neighbourhood Team
