Hello all, The hot weather has certainly arrived now in Thanet and I just wanted to give you all an update at the end of a very busy week about what I have been getting up to in and around my wards since my last post. Thank you to those who attended my latest surgery on 29/05/26, it was really good to speak to residents about their concerns and hopefully provide some useful advice and support. Please watch this space for future dates which I will look to publish shortly.I have been putting up signage in rural areas identified to me by residents where there are concerns for antisocial behaviour. I hope that this provides a visible reminder that police do monitor these locations, and will continue to monitor their impact.I have conducted six stop searches, five of which have led to the seizure of drugs. Where possible I have issued out of court disposals aimed at preventing re-offending. One stop of a vehicle in Minster led to suspected cocaine being seized and a male was arrested by my colleague on suspicion of drug driving.Demand across the Isle has seen me deployed to support various incidents such as 999 calls, events and other calls for service. I have attended 22 calls since my last update, and assisted colleagues with policing the recent dispersal orders which have been put in place in Ramsgate, Margate and Broadstairs. Two of my recent road traffic cases have gone to court and I’m pleased to share the following results with you. A male whom I stop searched and arrested for various offences in Minster some months ago has received a community order, rehabilitation order, 20 month disqualification from driving, and fines. A separate similar case has also recently been finalised, with the suspect receiving a 12-month disqualification. I hope this goes some way towards keeping the roads safe in my wards for residents and other road users.I have been in touch with councillors and residents about various issues and concerns, from ASB to criminal damage reports, and will be doing my best to incorporate the locations raised into my routine patrolling. Although demand is high lately, I will always do my best to reply to emails and messages as quickly as I can so please bear with me.Finally, I have made four separate arrests in response to a variety of suspected offences. An area search in my wards for an outstanding domestic suspect led to a stalking arrest, as well as three arrests whilst on foot patrol for a mixture of shoplifting, public order, criminal damage and assault on emergency worker offences. These have all been passed to our investigation teams who will progress enquiries. Please continue to get in touch if you need me or you have information you think could be of use, I’m always keen to hear from you. Do be sure though to also report any crimes or incidents in progress through the Kent Police website or 999/101 as well so that the normal recording process is followed, as my inbox is not monitored 24/7. Warm regards, |
