We had a meeting recently with the Funding and Development Manager of The Community Impact Initiative, (CII). This sounds like an amazing opportunity for people aged 16+ to gain skills and get involved with an exciting opportunity.

The Community Impact Initiative, (CII), regenerate long-term empty homes as a vehicle for community members to learn a range of construction skills, achieve qualifications, meet new people, access wellbeing support and secure employment and progression opportunities.

They welcome referrals of anyone aged 16+ and cover the cost of lunch, travel, clothing and childcare support. Participants do not need any previous experience to join a project.

Key info:

Attendance is only one or two days a week (same days every week)

A day is 9am till 3pm (we're flexible for childcare and travel)

Projects are usually six months long (you don't need to stay for the whole thing if you don't want to)

Learners can also achieve the L3 Emergency First Aid in the Workplace qualification, CITB H&S Awareness training, and the CSCS card all free of charge.

Work alongside two skilled tutors for in-depth training

Try your hand at all trade skills (bar gas and electrics)

PPE and lunch provided

Travel money reimbursed

Tailored individual support for your next steps post project
