Subject: Neighbourhood Watch Week 1–7 June – Can You Help Us Grow?
Dear Coordinators,
As you may know, Neighbourhood Watch Week runs from 1st to 7th June and provides us with an excellent opportunity to raise awareness of Neighbourhood Watch across Waltham Forest and recruit new members.
Over the past year we have grown to more than 2,400 members, strengthened our links with local police and councillors, supported ward panels, organised community clean-ups, shared crime prevention advice and helped residents feel more connected to their neighbourhoods. However, there is still much more we can achieve, and we need your help.
This year’s theme is simple:
Each member recruit one new member.
During Neighbourhood Watch Week, I would be grateful if you could:
• Talk to neighbours, friends and local residents about Neighbourhood Watch.
• Share our membership link and social media posts on local WhatsApp, Facebook and community groups.
• Encourage residents to display Neighbourhood Watch signs or posters where appropriate.
• Invite at least one new person to join our network.
• Tell people about the benefits of joining, including receiving local crime alerts, community safety information and opportunities to help improve our neighbourhoods.
If every coordinator recruited just a few new members, we could significantly increase our reach and strengthen our voice across the borough.
Neighbourhood Watch is not just about crime prevention. It is about creating safer, friendlier and more resilient communities where neighbours look out for one another and work together to tackle local issues.
By doing this we are putting the criminal on the back foot and making it less easy for them to operate.
Thank you for everything you do throughout the year. Your commitment and enthusiasm are what make Neighbourhood Watch successful.
Let’s use Neighbourhood Watch Week to showcase the fantastic work taking place across Waltham Forest and encourage more residents to become involved.
Best wishes,
James Phillips
P.S. With so many Coordinators, it has proven very difficult to organise a group meeting. Instead, I would like to invite you to meet with me individually over the summer months to discuss any concerns, issues or success stories you may have, and to chat about our forthcoming strategy for the borough. Please feel free to call or send me a WhatsApp message on the number above.
