Seized E-Scooter |
||
|
Whilst conducting mobile patrols last night, officers from Pontardawe Neighbourhood Policing Team seized an e-scooter that was being ridden on a public road.
We understand that e-scooters are becoming increasingly popular; however, privately owned e-scooters cannot legally be used on public roads, pavements, cycle lanes or other public places. Their use is prohibited under the Road Traffic Act 1988 and the Highways Act 1835 unless they are being used as part of an authorised rental scheme.
The illegal use of e-scooters can create safety concerns for pedestrians, cyclists and other road users, particularly in busy community areas. Our priority is to keep our communities safe and prevent incidents that could result in injury.
We would encourage anyone considering purchasing or using an e-scooter to familiarise themselves with the legislation before doing so. Thank you for your continued support in helping us keep our roads and public spaces safe for everyone.
