Anti-Social Behaviour, Leigh Town Centre. |
Dear Resident,
Tonight, a large group of youths have once again been in Leigh town centre causing issues related to anti-social behaviour. One youth received a Cannabis Warning after being found in possession of cannabis, just as he was preparing to smoke it. Notably, two of his close friends fled the scene, leaving him to deal with the consequences on his own. On two separate occasions, a large mixed group of youths have gained entry into the old Cineworld building on The Loom. During the second incident, approximately 20–30 youths ran off upon police arrival. Unfortunately for one individual, in his haste to leave, he abandoned his jacket at the scene. As a result, his parents had to attend to collect both him and his belongings, and were understandably unhappy. The Cineworld building is currently undergoing works and is an extremely dangerous environment. There are large, water-filled holes in the flooring and elevated platforms without safety railings. Despite repeated efforts by police to secure the premises—at significant cost to the taxpayer—individuals continue to force entry. This diverts valuable police resources away from more serious incidents. Please ensure you know where your children are and discourage them from travelling into town centres and putting themselves at risk in such reckless ways, these youths are travelling some distances in order to be on the Town Centre, one of the youths stopped this evening had travelled from Hindley, just to be on Leigh Town Centre.
We can't be everywhere all the time, please make sure your children stay safe! | ||
