🚨 Parking, Behaviour & School Safety 🚨

We have received reports of ongoing issues involving parking and disagreements between parents and local residents during school drop-off and pick-up times.

We would like to remind everyone:

🔹 Please park considerately – avoid blocking access points, driveways, or narrow routes.
🔹 Do not park on double yellow lines – these are enforced by the local council and may result in a penalty notice.
🔹 Be respectful at all times – verbal abuse or aggressive behaviour towards others is not acceptable.
🔹 Allow space for emergency and resident access – even if you believe there is room, avoid causing potential obstruction.

🔹 If you live nearby and are able to walk, please consider doing so – this helps reduce congestion and improves safety for everyone.
🔹 Consider ‘park and stride’ – parking a short distance away and walking the remainder can significantly ease pressure around the school gates.

🚸 Keeping Children Safe

School times are especially busy, so please take extra care:

✅ Drive slowly and be prepared to stop suddenly
✅ Avoid parking on corners or near crossings where it reduces visibility
✅ Do not perform unsafe manoeuvres (e.g. U-turns or reversing without clear view)
✅ Ensure children exit vehicles safely on the pavement side where possible
✅ Encourage children to use safe crossing points and remain aware of traffic
✅ Be mindful of increased pedestrian activity, including young children who may act unpredictably

We understand school times can be busy, but cooperation and patience is key to help keep everyone safe.

Local neighbourhood officers will aim to carry out occasional patrols during school finishing times throughout June, where operational commitments allow, to provide reassurance and deter issues.

If incidents involve abuse, threats, or escalate beyond a parking issue, please report them to police via the appropriate channels.
