I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Vehicle crime (theft from or theft of), which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey. 🚨 Community Update: Vehicle Crime Awareness 🚨 We’re asking residents to remain vigilant following a recent increase in reports of vehicle thefts and thefts from vehicles across the local area. Offenders are targeting both parked vehicles on driveways and those left on the street. In many cases, vehicles were left insecure or keys were easily accessible from within the home. 🔍 What we’re seeing
Opportunistic thefts where vehicles are left unlocked Vehicles taken using keyless entry relay methods Tools and valuables being stolen from vans and cars overnight Offenders checking multiple vehicles in a short period of time
âś… How you can protect your vehicle Please take a few moments to follow these simple but effective crime prevention steps: Lock it every time
Always lock your vehicle, even if it’s parked on your driveway Double-check doors and windows before leaving it unattended
Protect your keys
Keep keys out of sight and away from doors/windows Consider using a Faraday pouch to block keyless signal theft Avoid leaving spare keys inside the vehicle
Remove valuables
Don’t leave tools, bags, or electronics visible inside Take items with you or store them securely overnight
Use additional security
Wheel locks, steering locks, or immobilisers add a strong deterrent Install CCTV, smart doorbells, or motion lighting where possible
Secure larger vehicles (vans)
Park with rear/side doors against a wall if possible Consider additional locks for commercial vehicles
👀 Report suspicious activity If you see anyone acting suspiciously around vehicles—especially late at night—please report it:
Emergency: 999 (if a crime is happening now) Non-emergency: 101 or via online reporting
