**Coalville Town update NN44** Antisocial Driving – Morrisons Car Park Reminder We’ve received a number of complaints about vehicles being driven in an antisocial manner around the Morrisons car park. This includes behaviours such as excessive revving, wheel spinning, racing, and general careless or inconsiderate driving. While it may seem harmless or entertaining to some, this type of driving can cause alarm, distress, or annoyance to members of the public, including families, shoppers, and staff simply going about their day. It’s important to remember that car parks are public spaces, not racetracks. They’re shared environments used by pedestrians, including children and elderly people, and require drivers to act with care, patience, and consideration at all times. We’d like to take this opportunity to highlight Section 59 of the Police Reform Act 2002. This legislation allows police officers to take action when a vehicle is being used in a manner that causes, or is likely to cause, alarm, distress, or annoyance to others, particularly when it involves careless or inconsiderate driving or the use of a vehicle off-road without lawful authority. What happens under Section 59? Vehicle seizures are disruptive, costly, and entirely avoidable. Recovery fees and storage charges can quickly add up, not to mention the inconvenience of losing access to your vehicle. Our priority is to keep the community safe and ensure everyone can use local facilities without feeling intimidated or disturbed. We’d much rather focus on supporting the public than dealing with preventable incidents like this. So please: Thank you to the many drivers who already show respect and consideration. For those who don’t—please take this as a clear warning. We will continue to monitor the area and take action where necessary
