Important cyber alert: Smoke detector phishing email |

Dear Resident
We are aware of a phishing email circulating relating to a smoke detector compliance issue, asking people to click on a link to check their status.
Northamptonshire Police’s Economic Crime Team (ECU) are urging residents to remain vigilant following this email.
To protect yourself from scams, known as 'phishing': Always go to a website directly, by typing out the address yourself, when logging into an account
To report phishing emails, forward the suspicious email to report@phishing.gov.uk. The National Cyber Security Centre will analyse and block malicious websites and email addresses.
To report phishing text messages, forward the scam text to 7726 (it’s free). This alerts your mobile network provider.
If you are a victim of Fraud or Cyber, please contact Report Fraud on 0300 123 2040 or visit their website to report.
Police are also encouraging members of the public to share this warning, particularly with elderly or vulnerable people who may be more frequently targeted by fraudsters.
