Courier Fraud Warning

Dorset Police are warning residents about courier fraud scams happening in the area.

Criminals may contact you pretending to be from the police or your bank. They will give a believable story, such as:

Your bank account is at risk

There is a fraud investigation

Your money or valuables need to be “kept safe”

They may then ask you to:

Put bank cards, cash, jewellery, or gift cards into an envelope or package

They arrange for a courier to collect it from your home

Use a password to make it sound official

This is a scam.

Police and banks will NEVER ask you to do this

They will never ask for your PIN or full banking details

They will never send a courier to collect money or valuables

Hang up immediately

Call your bank's fraud department on 159

Do not hand over any items to a courier

Report it to Report Fraud 0300 123 2040
