Community Speedwatch |
||
|
Dear Residents,
We are looking to set up a Community Speedwatch for each area in Longford, Bell Green, Wood End, Potters Green and Walsgrave and are sending a message to see if there is any interest for groups to be set up.
What is Community Speedwatch? It is a community driven road safety initiative which empowers community volunteers to address their concerns around inappropriate traffic speed around your residents with the support of West Midlands Police.
It involves trained volunteers using approved speed detection devices resulting in one of two outcomes:
What are the mandatory requirements for Community Speedwatch? All volunteers must be over the age of 18, have attended the police training session and signed the appropriate paperwork to acknowledge the training and receipt of mandatory requirements. Those who have not been through the training will be considered as “observers” and will not be authorised to keep records or handle equipment. Volunteers must wear fluorescent tabards/jackets at all times when conducting a Community Speedwatch and can only operate at police approved locations which have been risk assessed by West Midlands Police.
If you are interested in the scheme, please let us know by replying to this message and we can then give you information on how to sign up.
Kind regards, The Henley & Longford Neighbourhood Policing Team | ||
