Dear Resident please see below a weekly update of incidents/crimes/good outcomes in relation to the Benfieldside, Blackhill, Bridgehill and Shotley bridge area over the last period.
Local Update 3rd June - 10th June On Friday 5th June at 0741hrs a resident has located his stolen Ford Transit Van near to the Allotments/Blackhill Park after it had been stolen a few hours earlier from West View. The vehicle had been broken into, the ignition and dash damaged to start it and then tools stolen from the vehicle once moved from the area. Whilst having this vehicle forensically recovered it has been reported that another van on Tindle Street had been broken into but not taken due to the owner having a steering wheel lock. From CCTV investigations a 3rd van used by suspect was located in Dixon Street's car park, further checks led officers to identify this 3rd van as being stolen from the Northumbria area also. Further to this it was displaying cloned plates which after a short walk over to Cort Street, it was discovered the original plates were on the correct vehicle in that street and an unknown suspect had attempted to take that vehicle 3 weeks prior. Multiple Crimes of theft of a motor vehicle are currently under investigation, If anyone has sighted anything or has any information in regards to these incident please contact Durham Police on 101 and quote crime ref. CRI00686161 On Sunday 7th June it has been reported that sometime between 04/06 and 1200hrs on the 7th an unknown suspect has smashed the front windown of a property on Greenacres Road. A crime of criminal damage is currently under investigation If anyone has sighted anything or has any information in regards to these incident please contact Durham Police on 101 and quote crime ref. CRI00686161 On Monday 8th June at 0038hrs a long wheel base Ford Transit has been recovered from the rear of Blackhill Working Mens Club, the vehicle in question had been used in a burglary the same night and was itself stolen from the Northumbria area. An investigation is currently on-going in relation to a burglary in the town centre. If anyone has sighted anything, has any information or any CCTV (particulary around the working mens club and Bessemer street area) in regards to the incident please contact Durham Police on 101 and quote crime ref. CRI00686655 On Monday 8th June at 2056hrs a group of kids on dirtbikes were reportedly on the field by Pemberton Road. If anyone has sighted anything or has any information in regards to the incident, please contact Durham Police on 101 and quote incident no. DHM-08062026-0473 On Wednesday 10th June sometime between 1900hrs and 0800hrs on the 11th an unknown supsect has slashed the tyres on a residents vehicle on Valley View.
