|
Dear Residents,
We would like to make you aware of ongoing shoplifting incidents affecting local businesses in the Mottingham area, particularly the BP service station.
Businesses have reported a male suspect responsible for a significant number of thefts. The individual is described as a prolific offender who has frequently displayed aggressive and intimidating behaviour towards both staff and members of the public while committing these offences.
Numerous reports have been received from employees and members of the public regarding the suspect's conduct. The financial impact of these crimes has continued to increase, with losses estimated to exceed £4,000 across 33 shoplifting offences.
Following local intelligence gathering, PC Thorpe, the local ward officer, took proactive steps to identify and locate the suspect. Acting on information received, PC Thorpe conducted an address check at a property believed to be associated with the individual.
As a result, the male was detained, arrested, and subsequently charged with 33 offences of shoplifting.
This outcome demonstrates our continued commitment to supporting local businesses and tackling retail crime within the community. We would like to thank residents and business owners who have provided information and assisted with this investigation.
If you witness any criminal activity or have information that may assist police, please report it via 101, online, or call 999 in an emergency.
