Dear all, I hope you are well and enjoying the change in weather. I just wanted to touch base to give you a roundup of the last few months in Surbiton! In April a well-known thief by the name of Louis Plumb was arrested for a string of offences committed in Surbiton and Kingston, you may have seen the video circulating online of him meeting one of our police dogs. It didn’t end well for him!! He was charged with multiple offences and sent back to prison. His name is in the public domain.A prolific bike thief by the name of Reece Fujioka had been targeting train stations across Surrey and London. Working closely with BTP he was finally apprehended and is now serving a two-year prison sentence. Again, his name has been released into the public domain. We have been carrying out joint operations in Surbiton High Street, targeting the illegal E-Bike users and moped riders. These operations have been very successful, resulting in immigration arrests and seizures. They will continue to take place moving forward.Plain clothes operations on the High Street focussing on shoplifters have been positive. Targeting those who are stealing alcohol, meat and cosmetics to order. A number of individuals have been dealt with via arrest and other disposals for this behaviour. Burglary, Robbery, Car theft/break-ins remain low in Surbiton. Removing valuables from your car and ensuring doors are locked are paramount to restricting opportune thieves. The most important thing is for you to call us when you see something that doesn’t look right.. even if you aren’t sure, just call us so we can come and check it out. We don’t mind! If you don’t report it, we won’t always know it’s going on! Finally, please pass Met Engage onto your neighbours, the more people we can reach about crime trends, good news and things you need help with, the better! Thanks for your ongoing support to help keep Surbiton one of the nicest places in London to live! Regards PS George Alleway |
