Renewed appeal after serious assault in Lydd |

|
Kent Police is continuing to appeal for information following a report that three men were assaulted in Lydd.
The incident happened near Cannon Street and Coronation Square between 7pm and 7.30pm on Saturday 13 June 2026.
The victims, who are in their 30s, had been taking part in a military shooting competition at the Lydd Ranges earlier in the day and had then visited the town where they asked some local people for directions.
It is alleged they were then attacked by a group of unknown men. One of them suffered serious facial injuries and was taken to hospital by paramedics for medical attention.
Chief Inspector Anjali Howard said: ‘At this stage, nobody has been arrested and we are still appealing for information to identify those who were responsible.
'Investigators are treating these assaults as both unprovoked and a hate crime. The three victims, who are overseas personnel in the UK on official business before returning home, were injured after asking for directions.
'We are aware of some social media posts containing false information about the actions of the injured victims prior to them being attacked and can confirm our enquiries have shown these claims to be false.’
Witnesses and anyone with information should call 01843 222289, quoting reference 46/94698/26. You can also call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111 or complete the online form.
