Do you rent out a holiday home? Please check your fire safety |
||
|
Humberside Fire and Rescue Service (HFRS) is asking people who rent out holiday homes, Airbnb, or short-term lets to check their fire safety.
There will be a new national register for holiday lets in England in 2026. This will include checks on safety, including fire safety.
Now is a good time to make sure your property is safe and follows the law.
Your Fire Safety Duties
If you rent out a property, you must keep your guests safe from fire.
You must follow fire safety guidance based on your property: Small properties (up to 10 guests and 2 floors): Bigger or more complex properties:
Why This Is Important
Guests may not know your building or how to get out in an emergency. You should make sure your property has: Clear ways to get out in an emergency Working smoke alarms Fire safety advice for guests Regular checks of alarms, including carbon monoxide alarms
The new scheme is not here yet, but you should act now. This will help lower the risk of fire and help your guests stay safe.
