🚔 Neighbourhood Policing Week – Filey NPT Update 🚔

As part of Neighbourhood Policing Week, Filey Neighbourhood Policing Team have been busy out in the community.

The Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) are dedicated to working closely with the community to keep our area safe. Officers focus on building relationships with local residents, businesses, and young people, tackling local concerns, and providing a visible and approachable police presence. From proactive patrols and crime prevention advice to youth engagement and community events, NPT officers are committed to problem-solving and supporting the people of Filey. By working together with our community, we aim to prevent crime, reduce anti-social behaviour, and make Filey a safe place for everyone. Here’s a quick round-up of what they’ve been up to this week:

✅ Proactive Policing
At the start of the week, officers executed two warrants, resulting in the seizure of drugs and cash, along with two arrests. 
Later in the week officers also seized a vehicle being driven without insurance, helping to keep our roads safe.

✅ Community Engagement
We hosted an anti-social behaviour (ASB) engagement event at Tesco, speaking with lots of customers about concerns in the area and offering reassurance and advice.

✅ Fraud Prevention
Our team ran a fraud awareness pop-up at The Banking Hub, providing guidance on how to stay safe from scams and protect personal information.

✅ Hunmanby Engagement
Officers carried out community letter drops and door-to-door visits in Hunmanby, connecting directly with residents and addressing local issues.

✅ Youth Engagement
We also held a skate park pop-up session, chatting with young people, building positive relationships, officers from Filey’s Neighbourhood Policing Team spent time at Filey Skate Park carrying out a positive youth engagement session. The team brought along alcohol awareness resources, including ‘beer goggles’ and a remote-control car, giving young people a hands-on opportunity to see how alcohol can affect coordination, reaction times, and judgement.

✅ Multi-Agency Working
Officers joined partner emergency services and North Yorkshire Council on a safety project at Cayton Bay.
