Public Spaces Protection Order

With the forecast of warmer weather over the coming days, we expect an increase in people visiting Eagle Brewery Wharf to enjoy the area. We would like to remind all residents and visitors that this location is subject to a Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO), which is in place to ensure the area remains safe, welcoming, and respectful for everyone.

The key conditions of the PSPO are as follows:

Summary of PSPO Conditions:

Loudspeakers: Not permitted between 21:00–08:00, and at any other time if they cause nuisance. Exemptions apply (e.g. emergency services or licensed use). Officers can require surrender of equipment.

Alcohol: Drinking alcohol is prohibited if it causes nuisance or annoyance. Officers can require individuals to stop drinking and surrender alcohol.

Psychoactive Substances: Possession or use of substances such as “legal highs” (including nitrous oxide) is prohibited. Officers can require surrender and cessation of use.

Obstruction: Blocking access to the rear of 38–46 High Street (including by vehicles) is not permitted. Obstructions must be removed when directed.

Urination/Defecation: Strictly prohibited within the restricted area.

Anti-social Behaviour: Any behaviour causing or likely to cause nuisance or annoyance is prohibited.

Details Requirement: Individuals must provide their name and address if requested by an authorised officer in relation to a breach.

Failure to comply with these conditions, or with directions from officers, may result in enforcement action and fines.

We ask that all those attending the area remain mindful of the local community and act responsibly. Officers will be patrolling and engaging with the public to ensure compliance, and enforcement action may be taken where necessary.
