Neighbourhood Week of Action!
Officers from West Midlands Police have been out across Wolverhampton as part of a dedicated Neighbourhood Week of Action, working closely with local businesses, partners and residents to help keep communities safe, informed and connected. The week saw officers engaging with retailers, offering crime prevention advice, listening to community concerns and strengthening relationships with residents and businesses across the city.
Tuesday – Supporting Local Retailers The week began with officers visiting a number of retailers including HMV, Boots and Matalan. These engagements provided an opportunity to discuss current issues affecting businesses, share crime prevention advice and strengthen partnerships with store teams. By working together, officers and retailers can help identify concerns early and create a safer shopping environment for staff and customers alike.
Wednesday – Crime Prevention and Tackling ASB On Wednesday, officers hosted a crime prevention stand at the Wulfrun Centre, where shoppers and visitors were able to speak directly with neighbourhood officers, receive practical advice and learn about ways to protect themselves from crime. Later in the day, officers joined council partners for an anti-social behaviour (ASB) walk around the city. The walk allowed partners to identify areas of concern, discuss ongoing issues and explore solutions that will help improve the local environment for everyone who lives, works and visits Wolverhampton.
Thursday – Engaging with Fast Food Businesses Thursday focused on engagement with fast food restaurants across the city. Officers visited a number of businesses to discuss safety concerns, crime prevention measures and any issues affecting staff and customers. These conversations help build positive relationships and ensure businesses know how to access support when needed.
Friday – Cuppa with a Copper at Costa Coffee Residents, visitors and staff were invited to enjoy a friendly chat with local officers during a Cuppa with a Copper event at Costa Coffee. The informal setting gave people the opportunity to raise concerns, ask questions and find out more about local policing priorities over a cup of tea or coffee. Events like these play an important role in building trust and strengthening community relationships.
Saturday and Sunday – Community Engagement Continues The weekend remained busy with officers carrying out further retail engagement visits across Wolverhampton, continuing conversations with local businesses and offering crime prevention advice. Officers also hosted a crime prevention stand at the Adult Education Centre, providing guidance on personal safety, fraud prevention and home security while answering questions from members of the public. The week concluded with another successful Cuppa with a Copper event at NEXT, where shoppers and staff had the chance to meet their local officers, discuss issues affecting the community and learn more about the support available from West Midlands Police.
Working Together for Safer Communities Neighbourhood Week of Action highlighted the importance of partnership working and community engagement. Whether through visits to local businesses, crime prevention events or informal community conversations, officers remain committed to listening to residents, tackling local concerns and helping make Wolverhampton a safer place for everyone. | ||||||
