🚨 Neighbourhood Update – Ashby 🚨

Yesterday, Officer 6633 was out on a patch walk along Ash Tree Road following concerns raised by residents about youths speeding up and down the street on e-scooters, e-bikes and trail bikes.

It was great to speak with so many of you – thank you for taking the time to share your concerns. A common theme was safety… both for the riders themselves (many without the correct PPE 👀) and for the young children who live and play in the area.

We know we’ve posted about this many times before (we promise we’re not on repeat just for fun! 😅), but it’s really important to highlight the law again:

👉 E-scooters:
• Privately owned e-scooters are ILLEGAL to use on public roads, pavements, and public spaces.
• The only legal use is through approved rental schemes in certain areas.
• They must have insurance, and riders must have the correct licence where applicable.

👉 E-bikes:
• Must meet EAPC regulations (max 15.5mph assisted speed, pedals present, etc.).
• If modified or exceeding limits, they are treated as motor vehicles – requiring tax, insurance and a licence.

👉 Trail bikes / off-road bikes:
• Cannot be used on public roads or land without insurance, tax, MOT (if applicable), a valid licence, and a number plate.
• Many of these vehicles being reported have no number plates, meaning they cannot be used legally on public roads.

We completely understand the appeal of these vehicles, but our priority is keeping everyone safe – riders and residents alike ❤️

Please follow the law to avoid your vehicle being seized.
