I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Theft - (shoplifting, personal, other), which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey. A man has been arrested, following reports of robberies at commercial premises in Romsey town centre.
The incidents took place in a short period of time from around 5.20pm on Sunday 21 June.
It was reported that a man had entered the Co-op store in The Hundred and had threatened a staff member with a weapon before stealing cash from the till.
It was then reported that a man entered The Phoenix pub, in The Hundred, and threatened a man before leaving.
Shortly afterwards, it was reported that a man entered The Exchange, in Market Place, and demanded money from staff.
Officers arrived at 5.28pm and arrested a man in The Cocky Anchor pub, in Market Place. Officers searched the man and found and seized a folding garden saw.
A 41-year-old man from Southampton was arrested on suspicion of robbery. He remains in police custody while our investigation progresses.
We have had no reports of serious injuries as a result of these incidents, which we are treating as linked.
