Glossop SNT - Summer Safety Tips
The forecast is for very hot weather over the next few days.
The country side looks forward to welcoming many of you to come and visit but we just wanted to remind you of a few things to keep you and others safe,
🌊 The water may look really inviting (open water such as reservoirs/rivers and flooded quarries) but please keep out, there are hidden obstacles, cold water and sudden steep drops making them not safe to swim or paddle in! Remember should you fall in or get into difficulty ‘Float to Live’
The best way to float is to tilt your head back with your ears submerged. Try to relax and breathe normally. You can gently move your hands and legs to help. Spread your arms and legs out to improve stability – and it's OK if your legs sink, we all float differently. Once your breathing is under control, call for help or swim to safety. Practise floating in a supervised location like a swimming pool.
🔥 No fires or BBQ's anywhere on moorland or wooded areas, or wherever you see signs (as below) - the ground is really dry and can easily ignite.
🚮 Remember to put your litter in the bin or take it home with you please.
Stay Safe - Enjoy - Respect the countryside
