Shoplifting on Baker Street

Good afternoon Resident,

Thank you for continuing to use the Met Engage system to stay up to date with important stories around Marylebone. 

Your local ward officers were on Baker Street this afternoon, conducting patrols before popping into a local shop for a well needed cold drink. While present at the location, they chased and detained a female that was seen to exit the shop with two bags full of food items. It transpired that she was brazen enough to try to steal while officers were nearby, and all items were recovered and returned to the shop intact. 

We work closely with retail premises and local street security teams to prevent thefts from occurring, and catch offenders when they do happen. Rest assured that shoplifting offences remain one of the priorities of the Neighbourhood Policing Team.
