Dear Resident, There has been a increase in reports of parcel thefts in your area. Here are some tips on how to protect your parcels from thieves. Choose safer delivery options - use parcel lockers or pick-up points, request signature-on-delivery for valuable options or arrange delivery for a day when you'll be home. Give delivery instructions and reduce visibility - ask the courier to leave parcels out of sight, such as behind bins, side gates or porch boxes or deliver to a designated safe place. Install a secure parcel box - use a lockable parcel box fixed to your property. Ensure it is bolted down to prevent removal. Add home security features - install video doorbells and security cameras to help deter thieves. Track parcels and act quickly - enable delivery notifications and bring parcels inside as soon as they arrive. Ask neighbours to keep an eye out for parcels if you're away. Build a neighbour network - join or create a trusted neighbour group to share deliveries or accept parcels for each other. Apps like Nextdoor or local WhatsApp groups can help. Deliver to work or an alternative address - have parcels delivered to your workplace, a friend or a family member. Many retailers allow multiple saved addresses. Report and stay informed - report thefts to the retailer, delivery companies and local police teams (non-emergency). Most parcel theft is opportunistic, not targeted. Making your homes even slightly harder to steal from often convinces thieves to move on. If you have any footage or any information that may help us to identify parcel thieves, please contact us via Met Engage, online through the Brixton Rush Common Met Police page on our website, or email us at brixtonrushcommon@met.police.uk.
