I wanted to provide an update regarding Mobile phone theft, which some members around this area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the Met Engage priority survey. Our priority is to tackle and reduce crime targeting robbery, personal theft and shop lifting known as retail crimes. Over the past weeks the Met police Teams including local Neighbourhood Police Team have been conducting a range of proactive activities and initiatives as a result, 55 suspected stolen phones were recovered from a single shop. Belsize NPT would like to use this opportunity to provide advice and guidance to our residents to be cautious not to use mobile phones openly out on the street also to check properly when buying a new or second-hand mobile phones from a non-reputable retail shop. This will be part of “We do not buy stolen phone” initiative and will hopefully help to reduce further mobile phone theft and robbery.
