Community Safety Message – Burnham Close / Sittingbourne Area

Kent Police attended various calls reporting a male garden hopping on Wednesday 24th June 2026 near Burnham Close and heading towards nearby railway lines.

Officers attended promptly alongside partner agencies, including Network Rail and British Transport Police, to ensure the safety of the individual and the public. Extensive searches were carried out in the area.  The man is believed to have been experiencing a mental health episode. He was not reported to be carrying any weapons and there is no indication of any wider threat or risk to the public.

We understand this incident may have caused concern due to the number of calls and the location near active railway lines. Patrols were conducted and the situation has now been resolved, with no ongoing risk identified.
