Northern Quarter Crime Crackdown Delivers Strong Results Officers from GMP City Centre Neighbourhood Policing Team have continued targeted Days of Action in Manchester’s Northern Quarter, delivering strong results against crime and anti-social behaviour. Day 4 – Plain Clothes Operation (Friday 26 June) Plain clothes officers were deployed to help identify offenders, gather intelligence, and disrupt criminal activity. This combined approach supports proactive policing, targets persistent offenders, and helps prevent crime. Day 5 – Enforcement Activity (Monday 29 June) Neighbourhood officers carried out: A drugs warrant on Oak Street also resulted in five arrests for drug offences and possession of offensive weapons. Officers have also engaged with the public through street briefings on Thomas Street, keeping communities informed. Inspector Kam Hare said: “We are listening to our communities and taking decisive action against those causing harm in the Northern Quarter. Using specialist resources, including the Drone Unit, Search Dogs and Mounted Unit, we are delivering visible and proactive policing. Operations have been driven by community intelligence, with officers working alongside housing providers and local authorities to tackle anti-social behaviour. We will seek to obtain closure orders and Landlord tenancy enforcement, “If you allow your home or business premises to be used for criminal activity or anti-social behaviour, we will take decisive action and you may ultimately risk losing your livelihood or the roof over your head. Criminality and anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated, and we will continue to take robust action alongside our partners.” Anyone with information is encouraged to report it via GMP or speak to neighbourhood officers.
