Melton Rural South Monthly Beat Update – June 2026
Dear Resident Welcome to June’s Priority Update for the Melton Rural South Beat. Our beat priorities are decided from feedback from the community in the form of surveys through Neighbourhood Link and our crime incident reporting systems. Thank you to all those who have completed the Neighbourhood Link surveys. Our 3 main beat priorities continue to be: Road Safety Drug Taking Rural and Farming Equipment Thefts
PC Tranter, PCSO Wittering and I feel it is important that we keep you as residents informed regarding the level and type of crime on the Melton Rural South beat and how it is being addressed which is why we post these monthly updates.
In June we have continued to see a high number of Road Traffic Collisions (RTCs) and Road Related Incidents which includes vehicle breakdowns and dangerous driving, on the beat’s roads at 22, though this is considerably less than the previous month. As always, our advice is please drive to the speed limit and the weather conditions, whether they be wet or extremely hot.
Road traffic enforcement on the beat’s roads continues to be addressed with high visibility speed monitoring together with using both marked and unmarked police vehicles to stop vehicles. The number of criminal damage incidents in June has reduced once again to 2, but the number of reported incidents of theft has increased to 6. There have been 13 reports of Assault (including domestic related assault) in June across the Rural South Beat which has decreased from the previous month. The number of reported burglaries on the Rural South has decreased to 2. The beat team, supported by the Rural Crime Team will be increasing high visibility patrols across the beat in an attempt to deter any further incidents and reassure residents. Please ensure you keep your doors and windows locked and your outbuildings secured. In addition, there were 7 reported incidents of vehicle crime and 2 drugs related incidents. PC Tranter, PCSO Wittering, and I will continue to spend as much time on the beat as possible, working longer shifts in an attempt to deter criminals on our area. As always the beat team are grateful for all your help, co-operation, and support. Thank you. PCSO French 6575 #yousaidwedid #inyourcommunity #meltonruralsouth #leicestershirepolice
