Wing mirror scam!!

Residents of Ickenham, South Harefield & Ruislip your local Neighbourhood Team officers have been notified about a recent Scam involving sticks/stones and vehicles!

The con involves fraudsters deliberately hitting your car as you drive past with a small object, such as a stick. Scammers then pretend that your car has hit their wing mirror and demand payment for the repairs.

We urge all residents that may came across this con or witness it to be certain any damage was caused by them, if any damages are present make sure to gather details of the other party involved and make sure not to give any cash!

Best way to spot the con is by offering to go through insurance and seeing the reaction of the other party, if the other party insists to demand cash this may be an indication of the con!

Dashcam cameras - Dashcam cameras are the best way to deter any con artists from attempting to scam you! 

Photos/recordings- If you do come across such an incident make sure to photograph/record any damages. Gather as much details/evidence if you can (pictures of damages/Registration Plate numbers/Vehicle description).
