Good morning, Resident
⚠️ Community Warning – Rogue Traders Operating in Gainsborough ⚠️ We would like to make residents aware that we have received a number of reports in recent days involving suspected rogue traders operating in the Gainsborough area. Rogue traders often target people at home, offering services such as roofing, gardening, driveway repairs, gutter cleaning or other maintenance work. They may arrive unannounced, claim urgent work is needed, or offer a "special deal" if the work is agreed to immediately. Please remember: 🔹 Be cautious of anyone who knocks on your door offering services you have not requested. 🔹 Do not feel pressured into making a decision on the spot. Genuine tradespeople will allow you time to consider their offer. 🔹 Never hand over cash or make payments before checking credentials, obtaining quotes, and ensuring the work is necessary. 🔹 Be wary of traders who ask for large deposits upfront or refuse to provide paperwork. 🔹 Do not allow strangers into your home unless you are confident of who they are and why they are there. 🔹 Consider speaking to a family member, friend or neighbour before agreeing to any work. 🔹 If you feel uncomfortable or suspicious, trust your instincts and close the door. Allowing unknown individuals access to your property can place you at risk of financial loss, poor-quality or incomplete work, theft, distraction burglaries, and intimidation. Rogue traders often rely on pressure tactics to persuade people to part with their money quickly. We encourage everyone to remain vigilant and to check on neighbours, friends and family members who may be more vulnerable to this type of crime. If you believe you have been approached by a rogue trader, or if you have any concerns, please report the incident to the police via 101 or online. If a crime is taking place or there is an immediate risk to someone, always call 999.
