On 13/06/2026, officers stopped a vehicle on Linnett Close, E4 6UD, after checks indicated the vehicle was uninsured. The driver explained that the vehicle had recently been fitted with new registration plates and produced the original plates from the boot. Further checks confirmed valid insurance for the vehicle, with the VIN matching the insured vehicle details.
Due to a strong smell of cannabis emanating from the vehicle and admissions by the occupants that cannabis had been smoked inside the vehicle prior to the stop, the suspect was detained and searched under Section 23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act. During the search, officers felt items concealed in the suspects trousers. When officers attempted to apply handcuffs, the suspect refused to place his hands behind his back. He then placed his left hand inside the front of his trousers and refused to remove it. The suspect subsequently attempted to make off and was seen trying to discard items into a nearby bush. The suspect discarded white powder wraps into a drain and a bush, along with an orange container. All items were recovered, secured and seized.
The suspect was arrested for obstructing a drug search, failing to provide details, possession of a Class A drug, possession with intent to supply a Class A drug, and driving without wearing a seatbelt.
