I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Anti-social behaviour - general, which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey. ASB Awareness Week 2026 | Neighbourhood Task Force
As part of ASB Awareness Week 2026, officers from the Neighbourhood Task Force continue to work proactively with our colleagues and partners to tackle anti-social behaviour and criminality across Thanet's town centres.
Today in Margate, officers from the Neighbourhood Task Force located and arrested a prolific shoplifter who was sought in relation to warrants issued as a result of him failing to appear at court for offences including shoplifting. This arrest demonstrates our ongoing commitment to locating and apprehending those who seek to evade the judicial process, while supporting local businesses, staff and shoppers affected by repeat offending.
In the Westwood area, NTF and beat officers engaged with four youths who had been the subject of concerns relating to nuisance behaviour towards shops and motorists. Their details were obtained, appropriate search powers were utilised, and officers carried out further enquiries with local businesses. As a result, one of the youths was positively identified as being involved in a recent theft. The individual's guardian was contacted and informed of their behaviour, and the matter was dealt with by way of a Community Resolution, ensuring accountability while providing an opportunity for positive intervention.
Later in the shift, whilst patrolling the Ramsgate town, a male and female were arrested for breaching the conditions of previously issued Community Protection Notices (CPNs) by being found an area from which they had been excluded. Both have been charged with the offences and bailed to court.
Anti-social behaviour can have a significant impact on our communities, affecting residents, visitors and businesses alike. The use of Community Protection Notices, exclusion zones and other enforcement powers provides officers with valuable tools to address persistent offending and hold those who disregard these restrictions accountable.
We remain committed to listening to community concerns, taking positive action where offences are identified, and working to ensure our town centres remain safe and welcoming for everyone. If you are experiencing or witnessing anti-social behaviour, please report it to Kent Police via our website or by calling 101. In an emergency, always call 999. #ASBAwarenessWeek2026 #NeighbourhoodPolicing #Margate #Ramsgate #KeepingKentSafe #ASB
Tackling antisocial behaviour can be a complex issue, and one which requires input and action from more than just the police. The Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 aims to put victims first, giving power to local people and enabling professionals to find the best solutions for their local area. The act provides the police, local authorities and other local agencies with flexible tools and powers that they can use to respond quickly and effectively to antisocial behaviour. These include: - civil injunctions.
- criminal behaviour orders.
- public spaces protection orders.
- community protection notices.
- dispersal powers.
- closure powers.
The act also includes measures such as the Community Remedy and antisocial behaviour case reviews which empower victims and communities to have a say in the outcome of their reports and hold agencies to account. If you ever experience this issue or have information regarding an incident, please report it using our online reporting tools at https://www.kent.police.uk, speak to an operator in our Force Communications Room via our online web chat or call the non-emergency number 101. Alternatively, you can stay 100 per cent anonymous by contacting the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via their untraceable online form at crimestoppers-uk.org.
