Rural Crime Update - Lothian and Scottish Borders |
||
|
Hi everyone,
I hope you are all keeping well.
I wanted to take a brief moment to introduce myself to you all. My name is PC Robyn Hanna and I am the newly appointed Preventions and Interventions Officer for The Lothians and Scottish Borders with my portfolio including rural and acquisitive crime. I am a born and bred West Lothian lass with 12 years experience in Policing across the country. One of my many aims is to get much better communication out to you all on a more regular basis. I will endeavour to get this out to you weekly but please bare with me whilst I find my feet.
Firstly, I will be attending several events over the next few weeks/months which I hope will be a great chance to get to meet and speak with you all. I warn you now, I'm a blether!
Dalkeith Show - Saturday 11th July 2026 Borders Union Show - Friday & Saturday 24th + 25th July 2026 Kelso Ram Sales - Friday 11th September 2026
Now to business! Rural and agricultural crime continues to be a problem in our area. Here is a brief synopsis of what's going on this week.
METAL THEFTS
West Lothian and East Lothian have been affected by three thefts of copper this week. One was a building awaiting demolition, the second was being stored in a barn and the third was a storage facility forcibly broken into. If you are currently storing copper on your premises please bare this in mind.
VEHICLE THEFT
A green Landover Defender has been stolen from the Borders. Two male suspects travelling in a white Ford flatbed truck are responsible. Please be aware of these individuals operating in the area and continue to challenge any strangers on your property. If you have any information on this crime or have noticed any suspicious behaviour please contact Police on 101 or you can report information on Crimestoppers anonymously.
THEFT OF DUCKS
Several rare breed ducks where stolen from their coops in West Lothian. Unfortunately the CCTV was compromised and no footage is available. If you are a keeper of rare birds please bare this in mind and again report any suspicious behaviour to Police.
HARVEST TIME
I wish you all a successful harvest season as it quickly approaches! I will be posting some information on our divisions Facebook pages reminding drivers of the increased number of tractors on the roads and how to drive safely. So please look out for them and I'd be grateful if you share the posts!
I hope this information is relevant and beneficial to you all. I genuinely welcome any feedback and recommendations, so please seek me out at any of the events above.
Take care and will speak soon,
PC Robyn Hanna
