Weekly round-up from your local Neighbourhood Team |
||
|
Hello All, This week we have seen slightly cooler weather, but still lots of sunshine to keep our spirits up! Let’s discuss the wonderful things that colleagues on the Bordesley Green Neighbourhood Team have been doing to support your local community in the last 6 days:
Firearms Recovered: We began the set with conducting a warrant at an address in Bordesley Green with our colleagues on the Regional Organised Crime Unit and partner agency DWP. During the search, firearms were found. Five individuals were subsequently arrested and the firearms were recovered. This was a fantastic result and helps protect the residents within Bordesley Green.
Prolific Burglar Caught: A burglar who targeted a local church twice several days apart was arrested and charged with numerous offences. Another great result for Bordesley Green.
School Input: PC Eaton and PC Mohamud conducted an assembly with Year 5 and 6 students at Starbank School about Road Safety, E-Safety and Cyber Bullying. We hope the information provided to the children will help them to navigate an increasingly digital world.
Successful Parent Workshop: In addition, officers hosted a Parent Workshop where parents were able to attend an informal discussion with officers at Starbank School and raise any concerns they have. There was a productive discussion on how to keep children safe over the upcoming summer holidays. Other issues were highlighted including e-safety, exploitation and knife crime. Thank you to the parents who attended!
Targeting ASB: Designated Neighbourhood Officers have worked closely with housing associations in reference to Anti-Social behaviour at specific locations to come up with some long-term problem-solving ideas.
Issuing Parking Tickets: Officers continue to issue to cars double parked and/or in a dangerous position. We have received concerning feedback from West Midlands Fire Service in recent weeks regarding not being able to get their fire engine down the road due to residents double parking. Please think twice where you park and don’t be shocked if you receive a letter in the post that local officers have issued your vehicle with a ticket.
Vehicle Recovered and Drugs Seized: Designated Neighbourhood Officers have located a vehicle in Bordesley Green which contained 16 boxes of Nitrous Oxide as well as suspected counterfeit cigarettes. The vehicle was subsequently seized, making your local community a little safer.
I would now like to discuss Crimes of Note within Bordesley Green:
Theft From Person: Over the last 6 days, we have had 3 reports of Theft From Person. This offence involves someone stealing another person’s belongings which are on them (ie inside the pocket of a jacket they are wearing) without using violence. These reports have occurred on Bordesley Green East. Please remember to keep all valuables inside a secure pocket or zipped-up bag, so that offenders are less likely to target you. Also, when possible, ensure you check for all valuable items when you leave a location, so that we
Theft From Shops: Over the last 6 days, we have had 2 reports of Theft From Shops. One report has already received a positive outcome. For any business owners reading, please ensure you maintain good CCTV footage within the store (which I am sure you already do!) because this truly helps us to identify and arrest suspects, as well as providing evidence of what has occurred.
Robbery: Over the last 6 days, we have had 2 reports of Robbery in Bordesley Green. Robbery is where someone uses force/threatens to use force to steal an item from another person. As with any valuable items, please ensure they are traceable with apps/built in tracking systems, or with physical trackers which can help us to locate an item which has been stolen.
I would now like to move on to any upcoming events within your local community that we will be hosting:
School Show & Tell: Officers will be attending a local nursery to complete a Show and Tell. We will bring our police van for the kids to see all of our colourful equipment, and we will be informing them about life as a police officer!
School Input: Officers will be hosting another school input at a primary school. We will be discussing making the right choices.
Finally, as we prepare for the upcoming period of hot weather, we would like to remind the local community to help us prevent incidents of anti-social behaviour (ASB) within Bordesley Green. Warmer temperatures often mean more people spending time outdoors, and we encourage everyone to do so responsibly and respectfully. Simple steps such as supervising children and young people, disposing of litter appropriately, avoiding excessive noise, respecting public spaces, and reporting concerns promptly can make a significant difference. We also ask the community to be mindful of neighbours when having large gatherings, especially during the evenings. If we can show this level of respect towards one another, we can all ensure that we have a lovely warm and welcoming summer.
