Operation Broad Oak – Weeks 3 & 4 Update |
||
|
Dear Residents,
Operation Broad Oak continues to make progress as dedicated officers remain deployed from Wednesday to Sunday, focusing on anti-social behaviour (ASB), drug-related activity and associated crime in Acton's identified hotspot locations.
We are currently in the "Clear" phase of the operation, which is designed to disrupt offending, target the most prolific individuals, and restore confidence within affected communities. While we hope residents are already beginning to see improvements, it is important to recognise that tackling persistent ASB is a structured process. Many of the tools and powers available to us are progressive in nature, meaning that lasting change takes time, consistency, and evidence gathering.
Recent Results
Over the past two weeks, officers working as part of Operation Broad Oak have achieved a number of significant outcomes:
✅ Recall to Prison of a Persistent Offender A well-known individual linked to anti-social behaviour in Acton was arrested and recalled to prison. This follows a collective effort involving local officers, residents, and the Probation Service. Information and evidence provided by members of the community played a key role in securing this result, demonstrating the value of residents continuing to report concerns and provide information where possible.
✅ Drug-Related Arrests in Woodlands Park Two people were arrested in Woodlands Park for possession of Class A drugs. One of those arrested was also wanted by the courts after repeatedly failing to attend for a number of offences.
✅ Further ASB Enforcement Since the last update, officers have issued: These measures are designed to address persistent anti-social behaviour and form part of our wider strategy to tackle repeat offenders, with the potential for further enforcement action where behaviour continues.
✅ Closure of a Property Linked to Drug Use Following joint work between the Metropolitan Police and Ealing Council, a property near Horn Lane has been recovered by the landlord. The address had become associated with drug use and was contributing to anti-social behaviour affecting residents in The Mount and surrounding areas. This partnership action will help reduce opportunities for offending and improve the local environment.
Community EngagementOn Saturday 4 July, officers attended the Acton Community Safety Day on The Mount. It was a pleasure to meet many local residents, discuss Operation Broad Oak, and hear directly about the issues that matter most to the community.
These conversations are vital in helping us understand local concerns and ensure our activity remains focused on the areas where it will have the greatest impact.
Looking AheadWe fully recognise the effect that anti-social behaviour and drug-related activity has on residents, businesses and visitors across Acton. Operation Broad Oak is designed not only to tackle immediate problems but also to create sustained improvements through enforcement, partnership working and community involvement.
We remain committed to delivering this operation and working alongside residents and partners to make Acton a safer, cleaner and more welcoming place for everyone.
Thank you for your continued support.
Kind regards, George
