✅ Good News from Your Local Policing Team ✅

The team has been busy this set, with two foot chases resulting in two arrests - fantastic work from our team! One male was arrested for possession of cannabis, resisting arrest, and obstructing police.

The neighbourhood officers have also been out with Police Officer students from Tally Ho! to show them what we do on a neighbourhood team, safe to say they definitely had a better understanding from being out and about with us.

Our PCSOs have also been out on street watch on one of our late shifts with our very valued and dedicated volunteers - we do these patrols regularly to ensure we are reaching our communities through high-visibility patrols and engagement.

The team have also been continuing to utilise our EAPCs (Electrically Assisted Pedal Cycles) to cover more ground and further engage effectively with our community - we believe to be a very effective tool, and find engaging with our residents becomes a lot easier!

The team continue to enforce the PSPO (Public Space Protection Order) in and around the town centre, continuing to educate youths around the conditions that are set out. We continue to remind everybody the conditions to ensure you can all commute safely.

Authorised people (such as police officers) can;

require groups of three or more people to leave the area between 6:00pm and 6:00am, if they have reason to believe that anyone in that group is causing or is likely to cause ASB

require a person to take off a face covering if it hides or partially hides their identity, and where there is reason to believe that they are causing or are likely to cause ASB

stop people from using E-bikes, E-scooters, motorbikes or quad bikes in the area without a reasonable excuse

✅ Crime Prevention Tips:

💬To help us combat theft from/of motor vehicle, please make sure your vehicle is locked, secure, and nothing of value is visible from the outside to deter opportunistic offenders from damaging your vehicle in order to get to anything you may have left in view. Prevention is key; steering locks are inexpensive and easily found in local motoring shops, or through a reliable online retailer. You should also place any keyless entry vehicle keys in a faraday pouch in order to prevent relay theft - these are also inexpensive and easily found through online retailers, or at any of our drop-in sessions where we regularly give them out.

Furthermore, we are noticing an increase in car cannibalism - this is where offenders will remove parts of a vehicle such as front bumpers, headlights, or grilles - there are a few ways to prevent this.

Use a locked garage whenever possible. If parking on a drive, use motion-activated security lights and CCTV or a video doorbell.

Install a steering wheel lock or pedal lock. These are visible, which may deter thieves from targeting the car in the first place.

Park defensively, ensuring that your front bumper is parked up against something, such as a garage door, or the front of your house.
