Increase in theft of Toyota Hilux and Nissan Navara pick-up trucks

We are advising owners of Toyota Hilux and Nissan Navara vehicles to remain vigilant following a recent increase in thefts across the district.

Over the past three days, several vehicles have been stolen in Stanley, Ackworth, Middlestown and Knottingley, with most thefts occurring without the use of the keys.

How can you protect your vehicle?

✅ Consider fitting a Ghost-style immobiliser

Prevents the engine from starting unless a unique button sequence is entered.

Cannot be detected using standard diagnostic equipment.

Helps protect against key cloning and other modern theft methods.

✅ Use a Disklok steering wheel lock

Acts as a strong visual deterrent.

✅ Install a vehicle tracker

Provides real-time location information if your vehicle is stolen.
