Cold callers

Dear Resident,

Cold Callers and Rogue Traders are operating in the Vale of Glamorgan and while we don’t wish to alarm you, we want to bring this type of crime to your attention.

Someone may knock on your door or contact you by phone to sell services and products you do not need or want.

They may even start a job without your consent, you can still say NO, but if they do, call us out via 999.  Your call is important to us.

The following may help you identify if a cold caller is genuine or not.  

Stop         Think are you expecting someone?  

             Are all your doors locked, especially your back door?

             Can you see who is outside without opening the door?

Think       Do you recognise the person or their vehicle?

                 Do you have a door chain, or spy hole – always use it!

Check      Their ID.  Call their company to check they are; who they say they are.  DO NOT         use the number on their identification; it may be false, use a recent bill instead.

                 SAY NO TO A COLD CALLER

Always call 999 in an emergency.
