During the last reporting period, SNT North Acton has continued to focus on supporting vulnerable residents during the recent spell of extreme heat. Welfare checks have been conducted to ensure residents are safe and have access to the support they need. Where necessary, colleagues from the NHS have attended to provide additional assistance and medical advice. Advice for Residents During Extreme WeatherStay hydrated by drinking plenty of water throughout the day, even if you do not feel thirsty.Avoid spending prolonged periods in direct sunlight, particularly between 11am and 3pm when temperatures are at their highest.Keep indoor spaces as cool as possible by closing curtains or blinds in rooms exposed to direct sunlight. If it is safe to do so, open windows during cooler periods such as early morning or late evening to improve ventilation.Wear loose-fitting, light-coloured clothing and use sunscreen when outdoors.Avoid strenuous physical activity during the hottest parts of the day.Check regularly on elderly neighbours, vulnerable family members, and those with underlying health conditions.Never leave children, vulnerable adults, or pets unattended in vehicles.Seek medical advice if you experience symptoms of heat exhaustion, such as dizziness, headaches, excessive sweating, nausea, or weakness.Residents are encouraged to look out for one another and report any welfare concerns to the appropriate services.
