On 29 June 2026, at approximately midday, a male entered three neighbouring properties in Swainshill without permission and stole items from at least one address.
While inside one of the properties, the male encountered the occupier, who immediately contacted police. At around the same time, the owner of a neighbouring property also called police after seeing the male leave their premises on CCTV.
Officers responded promptly and located the suspect nearby. He was arrested and taken into custody. He has since been released on police bail and is due to appear before the Magistrates' Court at a later date.
The swift actions of local residents in reporting the incident, combined with CCTV footage and a prompt police response, enabled officers to quickly identify and apprehend the suspect. This incident highlights the value of CCTV in supporting investigations and helping police secure positive outcomes for the community.
