Ward Sergeant's Update |
||
|
One of the questions I've been asked most frequently over the past few weeks, is when residents should contact the police through Met Engage or the Ward Panel. I've also had a few enquiries about reporting safeguarding concerns and dealing with urgent issues.
Given the number of questions on these topics, I thought it would be useful to clarify things in this week's Ward Sergeant's update.
MET ENGAGE
Met Engage is suitable for:
Receiving local crime and community safety updates. Learning about police activity in your area. Finding out about ward panel meetings and community events. Raising local concerns that are affecting your neighbourhood. Completing surveys that help identify local policing priorities. Contacting your local Safer Neighbourhood Team about community issues.
Met Engage is not suitable for:
Reporting crimes. Reporting anti-social behaviour that requires police action. Reporting safeguarding concerns. Reporting incidents that require an immediate response.

WARD PANEL
What the Ward Panel is for:
The Ward Panel is a group of local residents, councillors, partners and community representatives who work with the Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) to identify and discuss the issues that matter most in the ward. The panel helps set local policing priorities, provides feedback on concerns affecting the community and supports a partnership approach to making the area safer.
What the Ward Panel is not for:
The Ward Panel is not a crime reporting service. If you need to report a crime, anti-social behaviour, safeguarding concern, or an incident requiring police action, please use 101, report it online via the Met website, or call 999 in an emergency.
Reporting safeguarding concerns and urgent matters
If you have a safeguarding concern, it should be reported to the appropriate safeguarding agency or directly to the police where there is a risk of harm. Safeguarding concerns may involve children, vulnerable adults, domestic abuse, exploitation, neglect, or concerns for someone's welfare.
If the issue is urgent and there is an immediate risk to someone's safety or wellbeing, or a crime is in progress, you should call 999 immediately. If the matter is not an emergency but requires police attention, report it via 101 or through the Metropolitan Police website.
The Ward Panel and Met Engage are not suitable channels for reporting safeguarding concerns or urgent incidents, as these platforms are not monitored for emergency response.
Here’s what your Safer Neighbourhood Team has been up to this week
From the team and I, we hope you have a fantastic weekend
All the best
